Spotlight on Inka Essenhigh’s “Aquarius” in Huffington Post

October 26, 2014

Inka Essenhigh’s large-scale oil painting on paper, Aquarius was featured in the Huffington Post today. For the first article in a series titled Single Work Appreciation Day, Daniel Maidman takes a closer look at the many worlds within the triptych. Referring to the central figure of the composition, Maidman observes, “Glowing fields of yellow and green pulse up her body. Their marbled end-paper patterning suggests that her transformation is not from matter to matter, but from matter to energy. She is leaving behind the material nature of the shore and of animal life, and readying to move upward into the stars.”
