Shepard Fairey to Receive Pratt Honorary Degree
On Friday, May 15, Pratt Institute will award Shepard Fairey with an honorary degree at its 126th Commencement. In addition to Fairey, four other individuals will be honored, including artists Alison Knowles (B.F.A. Illustration ’56) and James Turrell; and art influencers Karen Brooks Hopkins, president of the Brooklyn Academy of Music; and Holland Cotter, co-chief art critic and a senior writer at The New York Times.
This year's commencement celebrates the achievements of 1,255 graduating students. Holland Cotter will be the keynote speaker at the undergraduate ceremony, starting at 2pm in the main auditorium, where he, Fairey, Knowles, and Turrell will receive honorary degrees.
