Shepard Fairey Designs Set for Miami City Ballet

March 27, 2015

Shepard Fairey has designed the vibrant, street-inspired sets for Heatscape, choreographer Justin Peck’s new work for Miami City Ballet. The collaboration combines ballet and street art in an unlikely yet inspired partnership. According to Vogue, it was while exploring Miami’s vibrant Wynwood Walls that choreographer Justin Peck found inspiration for the piece.“He works with these mandala images that start from the center and build outward,” Peck says, “and that way of working interests me choreographically," says Peck.

Heatscape premieres March 27, 2015, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, FL. The Guggenheim Museum will preview the ballet as a part of their Works & Process series on Sunday, January 18, 2014.
